BRIEF:
For two years, Marqeta’s largest annual internal sales kickoff event (or SKO) was held virtually due to the pandemic. The SKO event was a 4-day series of meetings that brought together sales, marketing, and executives from all global offices to discuss product features, sales tactics, fintech industry competitors, and moreover to excite the internal teams to have a successful sales year.
2021 Theme: Unstoppable
This year’s event branding took on an adventurous and outdoorsy tone. Zoom backgrounds for presenters each included a stunning, climbable peak in the world — and backgrounds turned out to be a great way to shift the tone of the virtual event to be more playful and conversational. Swag included a bandana, hydroflask water bottle, and baseball shirt.

2022 Theme: Ignite
The next year took on an explosion theme and it was requested by stakeholders to incorporate a mid-century look/feel, as it was planned to happen in-person at the iconic Valley Ho Hotel in Scottsdale. (Omicron scratched those plans and the event had to go virtual.) Swag included bags, sweaters, and mugs.

MY PART:
For both years events, I was tasked with the complete branding and finalization of assets for the event. The annual theme/title was determined by the head of sales and marketing. I concepted and designed the main event logo based on that chosen title, guiding the stakeholders towards a visual theme that worked in the title appropriately. After creating a logo, color palette and brand look/feel, I developed swag items, zoom backgrounds, and other event materials that were shipped to attendees in advance.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
- Internal sales teams, C-suite execs, and Marketing teams
